Fitting Back In

Today NYC decided to be summer again. No complaints here! This Texas flower loves her some heat and I really need to try to wear a few more warm weather items before the chill blows in. This outfit is meaningful for a few reasons. First, I bought it in New Orleans last year before our wedding and wore it to the most fun Friday lunch ever at Galatoire's (Friday lunch is a "thing" there).

The second reason? IT FITS. A few months ago it wouldn't have, but I worked hard over the summer to feel better about myself and not have my clothing strangle me, so putting these pieces on today felt really good. Although I had a couple of #fails first: I tried a denim pencil skirt and Chucks on the bottom—nope, the proportions didn't work. Then I tried white jeans and nude heels. Nerp again! It looked way too summery plus the jeans weren't quite high-waisted enough for the length of the top and I don't need to be showin' any midriff in the office! Then I remembered these Hudson jeans I originally wore with the top [Free People] and voila! I threw on these Dolce Vita shiny slides to add a little pop and some fringe-y earrings on top because it just felt festive AF.

OutFIT or LoseIT?: I'm really glad I forced myself to try this top today because I hadn't worn her in awhile and she might've not made the cut. As long as these items continue to fit (see you never, dessert) they'll stay in the mix!
